Government announces no gas load shedding in winter


 ISLAMABAD: The government has announced no load shedding for the domestic and industrial sectors in winter and directed the Petroleum Division to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas.


A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy was held under the chairmanship of Planning Minister Asad Umar and a statement was issued. The committee directed the Petroleum Division to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas to the domestic and industrial sectors.


The Petroleum Division considered gas load management in winter and also raised the issue of procurement of additional gas for the season. The Petroleum Division also presented a plan for the use of RLNG. Committee seeks energy efficiency program for home appliances from Petroleum Division

According to the statement, gas load shedding will not be carried out in winter for domestic and export industries. Later, the committee directed the Petroleum Division to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas to the domestic and industrial sector and also directed to stop gas theft through compressors. The committee approved ratification of agreements with IPPs.
