KARACHI: The steering committee of Sindh Education Department has decided not to close educational institutions in the province and not to grant winter vacations.

A meeting of the Steering Committee of the Education Department was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani.

The meeting also discussed the winter holidays and the decisions taken at the NCOC meeting. Education Minister Saeed Ghani said that no final decision was taken in the last meeting chaired by the Federal Minister of Education. It was agreed to take a final decision after consultation with all the provinces till November 23. Instead of sending children to school from November to December 24, they are being asked to teach at home and take winter break from December 25 to January 10. The federation is of the view that from November 25 to December 24, teachers should come to schools and parents should take homework from schools every week.

Sources said that the steering committee has decided that schools and colleges across the province will not be closed and there will be no winter vacations. Schools may offer online education. The NCOC will be informed of the decisions of the Education Department.
